Ashiatsu Massage
Ashiatsu, (ashi means foot and atsu means pressure), is an ancient form of bodywork brought to us by
Buddhist monks, first from China and then from Thailand and Japan. It can be  prononced Ahh...Shiatsu.
Ashiatsu Therapy is an ancient form of bodywork based on Chavutti Thirummal, using the bare feet in
compression work combined with Swedish, Sports, and Myofascial massage techniques while the client
is on a floor mat and the therapist performs the massage either standing or seated on a stool or chair. It
provides the client with a deep, relaxing massage without the usual pain associated with deep tissue
massage. The even pressure that is easily applied with the foot, which is also bigger than the hand, gives
the therapist control without injury to the therapist’s hands or the client’s body. These techniques make
use of the effortless force of the therapist’s body weight to do most of the work. Using the pressure of the
therapist's feet on strategic points along the back and spine, a push - pull - pumping affect is created on
the soft tissue that surrounds the muscles and inter-vertebral disc space.
I also encorporate Fijian massage which  employs techniques learned from the inhabitants of the Fijian
Islands. This deep, yet soothing, massage technique uses one foot that kneads all the muscles, relieving
tension and pain.
